Ancient Olympics

The Olympics began over two and half thousand years ago in Ancient Greece. In those days Greece was made up of several different states including Athens, Sparta and Corinth, and they were often at war with each other. But when the games were on, they held a truce.

The greatest event was held at a place called Olympia, and this is why the games are called the Olympics. They were held once every four years in honour of Zeus, Lord of all the gods.

Eventually the ancient Olympics were abolished by the Roman Emperor, Theodosus the First, who was a Christian and didn’t like the games because they were dedicated to a pagan god. But the Olympics were always remembered as a symbol of human achievement and peace.

Te Tuhi

Carefully walking on to the bus we felt so excited for Te Tuhi. Climbing off the bus, I see Te Tuhi and it was so beautiful.

When we walked in to Te Tuhi we saw a piece of art it was made out of a trailer. We sat down on to the floor and we looked at the piece of art, it had a smoke machine - here we awited for Jeremy.

Jeremy came and he took us to the room . The room was filled with art work from other schools.
Jeremy told us that we were going to make a dream house out of shapes. We picked out 10 shapes and made our dream house by gluing the shapes together.

At the end we had to do the outline with a vivid. Then for the finishing touches, drawing inside the house.

Next we went to look at some art. We watched two videos and one that we talked about.

Finally, we got back on the bus and drove back to school.

Art Reflection

What did I learn most about?
I learnt about being patient.  And also about always going slowly and carefully.
What was the most interesting thing I did or my friends did.
The most interesting thing I did it was that I learnt about a new artist that does Circle trees.  The artist name was Heather Galler.
How can I do my art better next time?

I will be patient when I do my work. I will do it very slowly So I don't  paint over and over again.

How I feel about my artwork or the whole process.

While I was doing my at work I didn't feel Alone because I was with other people on my table.  It was very fun doing our work because we talked and last well we did very cool artwork .

What did I enjoy most of all or what was the best thing about my painting.

I am enjoyed having a laugh while doing work and also being in my own painting world. The best thing about my painting was that the Sky Tower was on and I love the sky tower.

What type of symmetry do your flowers have?

In my garden my flowers have...

Rotational symmetry

This means that Rotational symmetry is when you trin the fliow and it stil looks the sam

What type of symmetry does your butterfly have?

In my garden my butterfly has…

Reflective symmetry

This means that... Reflective symmetry means that you have to make sure that reflective symmetry and all the same on each side because if it was the same on each side it would be like a mirror

What geometry feature does your pathway show?

In my garden my pathway shows...tessellation

To make my pathway I...I made my pathway out of paper squares that the colour was pink and blue and golden and silver those are my colour

This means that I had to translate to tessalate my squares.Geomentry

My New Duffy Book

My new book is called Three Bears - Sort Of. I've seen this book in the shops and I said to myself "I really want that book it looks really funny." I have read a book like it before and it was really funny and so I know this one will be funny too.
