Cable Car

Today we went to the Cable Car in Wellington. There are two Cable Cars, while one goes up, one goes down.

First we got our ticket from a man. Then we scanned it at the gate to get in. During the ride up there 3 tunnels. The first tunnel was just a plain black tunnel. But the next one and the third one had disco lights.

As we passed a cable car that was going down while we were going up, we waved "Hello" to the driver.

When you go up the hill you can see all of Wellington. It was cold and windy on top of the hill. Then we had to go back down. Once we got down we had lunch.

I loved the disco lights the most - they were delightful.

Visiting Parliament

Today we went to Parliament. Parliament is shaped like a beehive, that is why some people call it The Beehive.
We went on a tour with a lady and she showed us lots of things in the parliament.
My favourite thing was that we got to see the debating chamber because that's where everyone talks about laws and bills.
I saw John Key's seat, my teacher's brother's seat as well as my MP's seat - Simon O'Connor. Simon came to my class last week.
There are lots of parts of parliament and we saw nearly everything except the offices.
Next time I'd like to see the offices.

One Hen

Kojo is a hardworking boy from Ghana who is very poor. His father passed away when he was very little. So now he has to help his mother collect wood.

When his mother receives a loan from some village families, she gives a little money to her son. Kojo buys a hen with the money he receives. The hen lays some eggs, so Kojo and his mum eat one egg and the rest he sells at the market.

Kojo studies for six months and he decides to make a chicken farm. He goes to the bank and gets a loan.

Kojo started a trust that gives out small loans to people who cannot get a loan from the bank. Kojo started his chicken farm.

Everybody Dance Now

Firefighters David

If you want to be a firefighter you have to fill out a long form and do all kinds of tests.
Part of the tests you have to do are - pulling down a dummy, pull up a ladder and walk up and down stairs. You have to be strong so in the physical test you have to carry a big tank of water.

Firefighters respond to emergency calls in a variety of ways. Firefighters can help you when a baby is stuck in the car, a cat is stuck up a tree, they help in a car crash and they all so put out fires.
